What is under a turf lawn that lasts
Turf is not a carpet you put down. It is five layers, and four of them are buried.
Anyone can roll turf over dirt. What is underneath is the whole job, and it is the part you cannot see once we leave.

Where turf makes sense
Front and back lawns
Replace a lawn that is brown half the year with one that looks the same in August as it does in March. Most homeowners start with the area they look at from the kitchen window.
Yards with dogs
Liquid drains straight through the backing. No mud by the back door, no dug-up corners, and nothing dies where the dog goes.
Play areas
A clean, even surface that does not turn to dirt where kids run the same line every day. Softer underfoot than decomposed granite or gravel.
Strips between concrete
Green joints between concrete pads, down a driveway or along a side yard. We pour the concrete and lay the turf on the same job, so the heights line up.

Turf has a wider price range than concrete because the product itself varies so much. We bring samples to the estimate so you can see what you are choosing between.

Common questions
Does turf hold up in the High Desert?
Yes. It needs no water to stay green and it handles hot summers and freezing nights. Wind is the thing to plan for, which is why the edges are secured and infill is brushed in to weigh the turf down.
Does it look fake up close?
Cheap turf does. The giveaways are one flat shade of green, no brown thatch at the base, and visible seams. Good turf mixes blade colours and has a thatch layer, and we seam it so the joins do not show. We will show you samples at the estimate.
Is artificial turf good for dogs?
Yes. Liquid drains through the backing into the base. Pick up solids as usual and hose the area down regularly. Ask us about infill made for pet areas, which handles odour better than standard sand.
Does turf get hot?
In direct summer sun it gets hotter than natural grass. A rinse with the hose cools it down and shade helps. If the area bakes all afternoon, tell us and we will talk through where to put it.
How long does it last?
It depends on the product and how hard the area is used. Good turf on a proper base lasts many years, and the manufacturers back their products with their own warranties.
Can I buy the turf myself?
Yes. We offer labor-only installation if you want to purchase the turf yourself.
